Particle Method

1.Development of Numerical Procedure fo Gas-Liguid-Solid Three-Phase Flow Based on MPS Method

Current mainstream of CFD is lattice method based on Euler method, but in recent years, based on the Lagrangian method, the particle method of discretizing working fluid as a set of spherical elements attracts attention. Since the particle method is a Lagrangian method, there is no need to deal with the convection term that causes numerical diffusion, and the deformation of the interface is directly expressed by the movement of the calculation point, and regeneration of the lattice according to the interface is also It has the feature that it is not necessary. From these characteristics, the applicability to the case where the large deformation of the free interface and the phenomenon of the minute scale have a large influence on the whole system is particularly high. In this study, we focus on the characteristics of particle method specialized for interfacial handling, and based on the MPS method which is a kind of particle method, solid-liquid three-phase flow calculation Construct and refine the method.

2.Supercooled droplet collision simulation using particle method

Recently it is known that serious damage has been caused by the icing phenomenon on the aircraft occurring during flight. For that reason, it is important to conduct a numerical simulation to predict the change of aerodynamic performance due to icing and the shape of icing in the development of aircraft. In my research, focusing on the particle method, we are developing a numerical simulation method for predicting icing. The particle method is a method of numerically calculating a certain fluid as a collection of small particles. By using this method, it is expected to reproduce more complicated ice shape than other calculation methods.

3.Numerical Simulation on Deposition Phenomena of Molten Droplets on Turbine Vane

Solidification of single molten droplets can be applied to various fields. In this research, focusing on the deposition phenomenon that particles such as sand in which the engine of the aircraft inhaled near the ground are melted at the high temperature inside, which adheres to the wing inside the engine and deforms the wing shape , we are conducting research. We also conduct analysis using a technique called particle method. By using this particle method, we can reproduce phenomena even more precisely.
