Honorary Fellow

On 24 January 2002 the President of the Institute of Physics, Sir Peter Williams,
bestowed Honorary Fellowship to Professor Hiroshi Kamimura at the annual
Awards Dinner held at the Savoy Hotel, London. The citation reads that
Professor Hiroshi Kamimura has made remarkable contributions to the theory
and understanding of condensed matter physics whilst working at the University
of Tokyo but also as Bell Laboratories, USA, the University of Cambridge and
Paris and the Tokyo University of Science. He is also a tireless promoter of
closer ties between physicists internationally which was evident during his
Presidency of the Physical Society of Japan and more recently in the
Monbusho-SERC UK cooperation in the field of Low Dimensional Structures
and Devices.
