Prof. Isamu Shiina received the 47th Ichimura Prize in Science FY 2014 by the New Technology Development Foundation
The New Technology Development Foundation announced the Ichimura Prizes FY 2014. A professor from the Graduate School of Chemical Sciences and Technology, TUS, has received the 47th Ichimura Prize in Science for his outstanding achievements in the development of a dehydration condensation reaction and its application to the production of pharmaceuticals.
Professor Isamu Shiina (Department of Applied Chemistry, Faculty of Science) was awarded the Ichimura Prize in Science for "Development of Innovative Dehydration Condensation Reaction that Enables Highly Efficient Pharmaceutical Manufacturing." In commemoration of rewarding the Medal of Dark-Blue Ribbon on April 29, 1963 to the late Kiyoshi Ichimura, founder of the Ricoh-Sanai Group, the Ichimura Prizes were established to promote public awareness of science and technology and to contribute to their improvement. Of the Ichimura Prizes, the Ichimura Prize in Science is awarded to technical researchers or groups with outstanding achievements in research conducted at universities or research institutes that have the potential to be used on a practical application level and to contribute to advancements in academic fields.
